LAUREN BRAHM

I am a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Interior Architecture and a Certificate in Design Strategy, both in the School of Human Ecology. Growing up, I was always interested in expressing my creativity in art and design, and I had a talent and liking for math. In the past few years, I have been increasingly passionate about creativity, psychology, and math, and I find the design field to be the perfect combination of the three. I am excited to use my analytical skills to design the built environment and space plan, while simultaneously expressing my creativity and benefitting the lives of others through healthy, functional interiors.

Through a remote, digital position, I have been strengthening my communication and digital presentation skills. This job requires back and forth communication via Zoom, email, and text messaging and has led me to be more thorough and efficient with my communication. In terms of design composition, I have strengthened my graphic design skills, use of design elements and principles, and comfort with Adobe Illustrator.

I also completed an interior design internship that exposed me to real world experiences and challenges, helped me understand beyond the classroom, and connected me to mentors in the field. In the future, I plan to take the NCIDQ exam and work with a team of designers in the commercial sector. I am excited to proceed in the design field and am open to any design experiences that allow me to be creative and improve the human experience.
